Central – Sneak Peak

with 13 comments

For all you developers out there scouring for more information on Central, maybe this screenshot will wet your appetite (click the image for a larger view):

As you can see, it is showing a concept of design that Macromedia would like to use for applications: ie “At a Glance”, “Find”, and “Favorites”, along with the supporting “pods” (those little boxes on the right).

Now you may be wondering when you can play around with all of this great technology? Well, word is that the beta will be opened up to a new round of testers, and then a public beta within the coming weeks/months. So, in other words, not too long!

**Please direct any questions to Mike Chambers new post regarding Central.

After many months of work, my good ‘ol Kiwi mate, Keran McKenzie (otherwise known as Pnut), has relaunched Studiowhiz.com. The site look clean, fast, and full of content. It looks like this will definitely become a great place to catch up on the latest news and get help from the community.

What really is amazing is the amount of great prizes he will be giving away to those who promote the site. Be sure and check them out, add a link to your site, or whatever, and win you an ipod, or maybe a complete version of Studio MX!

Only 6 Days…

with 7 comments

OK, Im tired. Wasted actually. Today I realised that I need to take more breaks. I had one of those “man I am an idiot moments” that I think everyone experiances. I have been working on one of my projects for a few days now, and something was not working the way it was supposed to. Basically it entailed populating a scroll pane with many movie clips. Simple enough.

Well after spending hours trying to figure out why they were not showing up in the scroll pane, I realized something. I had made the layer inside the component I was populating the scroll pane with a guide layer. I dont know how, when, or why I did that?! I think maybe it is the sleep deprevation, who knows :) All I DO know is that in six days, Josh, his girlfriend, my wife and I are hopping on a plane and heading off to spend 7 glorious days in New York, three of which will be at FlashForward. There is a light at the end of the tunnel!!!!!

Can’t wait to see everyone in the Big Apple!
