Flash in the Can 2004 – The End

One word…WOW. I must say that FlashintheCan was one of the best conferences I have attended in a while. There were a few small glitches, but nothing that took away from the overall spirit of the conference. I could tell that everyone else was enjoying the conference as much as I was; even on the last day there was standing room only in most of the sessions! Now that is dedication.

One of the best sessions of the day was Chafic Kazoun’s session on the v2 architecture. It was fully packed and Chafic did a great job showing off the power of the new architecture. I personally was very interested, I had spent the past two weeks delving into the architecture, learning how to use it in my applications. I have a great appreciation for it and realize how useful it is even if you are not just building components. I am hoping to post more about this later.

Another great session was Colin Moock’s session on multiuser interfaces and thier impact on the web and on us as users of the web. He showed a lot of great examples, and it really inspired me to try to take those ideas into consideration on my future projects (i more and more see how social networking will have great influence on what we as developers will be building in the future.)

One thing that I can honestly say is that the best part of the conference is meeting up with old friends and getting to know new ones. There are too many people that I hung out with to mention here, but you know who you are and I can’t wait to see all you guys and gals in the future.

So, what are you going to be doing next Spring? Hopefully I will see you at FlashintheCan.

  2. Hi Daniel,
It really was a remarkable event! I didn’t want it to stop. There were so many people I’ve exchanged E-mail with or discussed things on mailing lists with that I met for the first time. So many great conversations… I’m not even sure why it was so good but it was nice to read you had a similar impression.
Congratulations to Shawn Pucknell and all the organizers and volunteers…
    Cheers,

  3. Daniel,

I’ve been so busy lately that I didn’t even realize that you were there until I got back today. Sorry I didn’t bump into you up there, I spent most of my evenings in the company of Toronto’s local Flash developers bar hopping and listening to some live music.
